Pixel Value Units: The calculator assumes that the pixel values are in consistent units (e.g., grayscale values, Hounsfield units). The CNR is a dimensionless ratio, so the units cancel out.
Measurement Locations: The labels are very specific about where the pixel values should be measured (inside the 4T hole for the base material, and next to the 4T hole for the IQI). This is crucial for obtaining meaningful CNR values.
Negative CNR: Be aware that the CNR can be negative if the mean pixel value of the IQI is greater than the mean pixel value of the base material. This is perfectly valid and indicates that the IQI is darker than the base material.
